Addition

The Groundwork

Block foundation and steel set for an addition, before any of it is visible again.

Concrete block foundation with steel beams set, alongside an existing white clapboard house

The challenge

Everything an addition will ever be is decided down here, and none of it shows once the floor goes on.

Our approach

Footings poured and block laid square to the existing house, then steel set to carry the span so the new floor does not rely on the old wall for anything it should not.

The result

Level, square and dry before a single stick of timber goes up.
